Supply Items Included in Federal Supply Group 79
A unit designed to polish, buff, scrub, and/or sand floors by a motor-driven brush(es) having separate attachments for each use. It may also be used to scrub rugs. It may be furnished with a water tank and necessary tubing for applying water to the scrubbing brush and/or a means of dispensing hot wax. See also POLISHER-SCRUBBER-VACUUM, FLOOR, ELECTRIC.
Excludes electrically operated items.
A one piece disk shaped unit with a centrally located mounting hole and having a bristle, fiber and/or wire fill section extending from the disk parallel or nearly parallel to the axis of the mounting hole. It is not fitted with the necessary mounting plate, adapter or the like for assembly to a specific machine. It may be used with a POLISHER, FLOOR, ELECTRIC or a POLISHER-SCRUBBER-VACUUM, FLOOR, ELECTRIC.

HOLDER,FLOOR POLISHING MACHINE PAD
An item designed to provide for the centering, holding and quick changing of a PAD, FLOOR POLISHING MACHINE.
PAD,FLOOR POLISHING MACHINE
A flat, circular disk or ring shaped mass of tangled, woven or matted steel wool, nylon web material, or the like, designed for use under the brushes of electric floor polishing and scrubbing machines of the disk type. The flat surface is the buffing surface. Excludes PAD, POLISHING AND RUBBING.
A machine mounted on wheels with a handle for manual guiding. It is designed for wetting and scrubbing or wetting, scrubbing, and vacuum-drying floors. It consists essentially of an electric motor powered brush(es) with a clean water and detergent tank. It may also include a vacuum pick-up and drying system with a used water tank. A mechanical cleaning device equipped with an electric motor which actuates impeller(s) or fan(s) and/or a revolving brush. The impeller(s) or fan(s) creates a vacuum within the housing, and with the aid of the revolving brush, when present, picks up dust and particles of dirt by suction and deposits them in a bag or tank type receptacle. An air operated cleaning device, without moving parts for power operation, which picks up dust, particles of industrial scrap, liquids, and/or sludge, by suction and deposits them in a tank type receptacle.
CLEANING TOOL SET,VACUUM CLEANER
A collection of two or more CLEANING TOOL ATTACHMENT, VACUUM CLEANER, such as suction nozzles and suction brushes required for different applications. The item may include extension tubes, connecting pieces, and the like.
A replaceable device designed to protect the motor of a vacuum cleaner. It consists of a crumpled paper stuffing or porous material which is surrounded with a plastic or metal frame.
CLEANING TOOL ATTACHMENT,VACUUM CLEANER
An item specifically designed for attaching to the end of a hose or wand of household and/or commercial vacuum cleaners. It may have integral brushes or spray jets. May be designed for particular cleaning functions on carpet, floor, wall and the like.

It is used for removing dust and debris from electronic equipment highly sensitive to dust and static build up in fields. An item designed for upright sweeping; the sweeping portion may be of broomcorn, bamboo, wire, vegetable or synthetic fibers, or combinations thereof. Generally designed with permanently attached handle. It may, however, be designed to accommodate a detachable handle and may or may not be furnished with the handle.
An item designed for push-type sweeping, with coarse bristles, such as rattan, bamboo, thick vegetable, or bristles of hair, hairlike synthetic fibers, wire or combinations thereof. It is usually designed to accommodate a detachable handle and may or may not be furnished with a handle.

BRUSH,DUSTING,CEILING AND WALL
An item having one row of bristles.
A fixed-handled brush designed primarily for dusting the keys of an office machine, such as an adding machine and the like.
An item having a semicircular brush part with bristles inset on the outside of the arc, and a handle attached to the opposite surface at one end. It is used to brush dust and other accumulations from terminal levels of selector and connector banks in dial telephone systems.
BRUSH,WIRE,IGNITION DISTRIBUTION CAP SOCKET
An item having a circular shaped wire fill section which is secured on a steel stem and attached to a wooden handle. It is designed specifically for cleaning and polishing sockets of ignition distribution caps.
Does not include WRINGER AND BUCKET, MOP.

An item consisting of a drilled wood block with plant fibers inserted therein. It is used for washing aircraft. See also BRUSH, WINDOW.

A device composed of fibers set in a suitable backing. Primarily used for the cleaning of vehicular chassis and running gear.
A device composed of fibers and/or bristles set in a suitable backing, with or without handle. It is used for cleaning vehicular engines.
A handle consisting of a shaft made of metallic or nonmetallic material, attached to a metal frame, which is then attached to an implement made of absorbent material by a screw, spring lever, or clip. Excludes HANDLE (1), ACME THREADED END and HANDLE (1), CIRCULAR TAPERED END.
A cloth item of irregular size and shape which has no value for the main purpose of manufacturing; usually obtained from discarded products such as clothing, household fabrics, and discards from textile and clothing manufacturing industries. Excludes hemmed type shop towels.
An item cut to a specific size from yard goods. It is generally made of medium or heavyweight flannels; velveteen is also used in smaller quantity for polishing silverware. Excludes CLOTH, CLEANING.

BRUSH,DUSTING,LENS AND PHOTOGRAPHIC NEGATIVE
A cluster of bristles (hair, nylon or wire) mounted in a hub, hand or power-operated, used in cleaning and finishing the inside of hollow ware, such as goblets, pitchers, cups and the like. Excludes BRUSH, WIRE (as modified).
PAD,METAL POLISH IMPREGNATED
Cleans and polishes by solvent and mechanical action and deposits a protective film.
A rectangular block of fine abrasive material used for cleaning griddles and the like.
CLOTH, NONWOVEN cut to a specific size or provided in rolls that the user can cut to the desired size. It is generally used to perform dusting, wiping, washing and/or polishing operations and may be laundered for reuse. For woven fibers and yarns not held together by a binder, see WASTE MATTED YARNS. An item primarily designed for cleaning valves of steam kettles.
An item composed of natural or synthetic material attached to a split-wire frame, straight, round, or rectanglar, which may be extended to form a handle. The head is dry-treated and used to remove dust from venetian blinds. The head may be washable and/or detachable. Excludes MOP, DUSTING.
An item consisting of a base with integral handle designed for clamping to a scouring brick. The base may be adjustable.
An item whose outer or working surface is fabricated into a rough texture, designed for the purpose of cleaning by friction and washing.

An item designed to remove ice, snow, frost, or water from vehicular window glass. It consists of a scraper blade, a squeegee, a mounting frame, and a handle.
BRACE,FLOOR SWEEPING BRUSH
An item, usually made from sheet metal or flat metal strips. It is designed to securely hold and strengthen the handle when assembled into the brush block of the Floor Sweeping Brush. It is usually attached by clamping with a U-bolt and wing nuts, a spring tension device, or physically to the brush block with suitable fastening devices.
An item designed to be mounted on a wall to contain a limited quantity of scrub brushes which may be individually dispensed by activating a manually operated mechanism.
HANDLE,ACME THREADED END
An item composed of a replacable sponge, and fastened back plate that is usually equipped with a suitable type squeezing mechanism for extracting water or other liquids. It is furnished with a handle. Excludes MOP, WET.
An item composed of cotton, or synthetic material which is affixed permanently to a handle (fixed handle type), or may be sewn together at the center across the material (detachable handle type), and furnished with a handle. Does not include items known by specific chemical names, and CLEANING COMPOUND, SOLVENT.
CLEANING COMPOUND,TOILET BOWL
A cleaner compounded especially for removing stains from a toilet bowl by chemical action.
CLEANING COMPOUND,RUG AND UPHOLSTERY SURFACE
A compound designed for cleaning upholstery and to permit the cleaning of rugs without removing the rugs from the floor.
A cleaner of nonspecific chemicals consisting essentially of organic detergents other than fatty acid soaps, in any form. It is designed to remove stain and grime from fabrics during washing. Excludes DISHWASHING COMPOUND (as modified).
A cleaner in any form formulated specifically for hand dishwashing.
A cleaner of nonspecific chemicals consisting essentially of organic detergents other than fatty acid soaps, in any form, formulated specifically for use in automatic dishwashing machines. It may be used for other dishwashing methods. See also SOAP, DISHWASHING MACHINE.
A polishing media which may contain wax with abrasive additives such as silicone, compounded primarily for use on automobile surfaces. Does not include WAX, AUTOMOBILE.
A preparation containing an abrasive compounded to remove slight scratches and polish plastic items such as acrylic plastic.
REMOVER,WATER EMULSION TYPE FLOOR WAX
A concentrate designed for use in removing old wax from asphalt tile, rubber tile, linoleum, and the like. It has no deleterious effect to the floors on which it is used.
A neutral vegetable or fatty acid soap cleaner in paste or liquid form, having a low caustic content. It is compounded primarily for all floors, except rubber flooring.
A fatty acid soap cleaner formulated specifically for use in automatic dishwashing machines. It may be used for other dishwashing methods.

A general purpose fatty acid soap containing alkaline salts. It is not intended for use on fabrics.
A soap for wet cleaning fabrics which are normally dry cleaned.

DETERGENT,DRY CLEANING SOLVENT
A cleaner consisting essentially of organic detergents, other than fatty acid soaps, generally in liquid form, to be added to hydrocarbons or chlorinated solvents for cleaning fabrics.
SOAP,DRY CLEANING SOLVENT
A fatty acid soap cleaner generally in liquid form, to be added to hydrocarbons or chlorinated solvents for cleaning fabrics.
A general purpose, fatty acid soap cleaner free from insoluble siliceous materials and carbonates. It may be supplied in flake, granulated (powder), or bar form. It may contain rosins and/or naphtha. Excludes SOAP, FLOOR.
CLEANING AND POLISHING COMPOUND,FLOOR
An item consisting of detergent(s), neutral soap(s), and wax(es), designed primarily for use on floors. It may also be used on walls, woodwork, furniture, and the like.
WAX,FLOOR,WATER EMULSION TYPE
A preparation containing wax as the principal ingredient with water as the principal carrier or vehicle. It is designed for use on composition floors, such as rubber, asphalt, vinyl tile, and linoleum. It can also contain ingredients to provide slip-resistance. A cleaner in bar form containing insoluble siliceous materials. See also SCOURING POWDER; and SOAP, GRIT.
A compound formulated with ingredients that clean by solvent and detergent action. It may contain a deodorant, disinfectant and/or an insecticide. It is used for removing oily dirt, tar, waxes and greases from finished surfaces, metal, linoleum, ceramics, plastics, and the like. Excludes CLEANING COMPOUND, SOLVENT and those items which clean solely by detergent action.

A nonspecific chemical compound prepared to remove coffee, tea, and fruit stains from plastic and china tableware and from coffee urns, except those made of aluminum.
DUST MOP TREATING COMPOUND
A fluid of nonspecific chemical composition which is formulated specifically for application to dust mops to enhance their dust-gathering properties. It may also be used on dust cloths and sweeping mops.
A cleaner of nonspecific chemicals compounded for the general removal of grime, dirt, and/or grease, oil, rust preventive compounds, and the like. It contains no wax to impart a polished finish and no abrasive materials. Do not use if a more specific name can be found in Cataloging Handbook H6, Section A. Excludes SOAP (as modified). A concentrate of nonspecific chemical composition formulated to be added to the rinse water to promote rapid drying and prevent formation of soap or detergent film on the articles washed.
A concentrate of nonspecific chemical composition formulated to be added to the rinse water to promote drying, reduce static and make the garments soft and wrinkle free. Excludes RINSE ADDITIVE, DISHWASHING.
CLEANING COMPOUND,SEPTIC TANK
A free flowing substance designed to dissolve by enzymatic action, organic waste such as hair, fibers, cotton, sludge, greases and fats for removal from a septic tank.
CLEANING COMPOUND,HARD SURFACE-FLOOR
A heavy duty cleaning compound having low sudsing characteristics and suitable wetting agents for cleaning terrazzo, travertine, marble, and ceramic tile, and for removal of heavy deposits of oil, grease, and soil in shops, garages, hangars, and ramps.
A compound designed to remove dull oxidized paint, tar, and road film deposits prior to the application of a wax.
ABSORBENT MATERIAL,OIL AND WATER
A substance used to absorb grease, oil, or oil and water mixtures from the floors of garages, machine shops, and the like. It does not contain any organic or foreign matter. Excludes SWEEPING COMPOUND.
WAXING AND CLEANING COMPOUND,IRONER
A compound of nonspecific composition with solvents, detergents, wax lubricants, with or without antistatic agents, designed for cleaning and lubricating laundry flatwork ironer equipment.
Any soap product to which cleaning ability has been improved by the addition of such typical builders as phosphates, silicates, alkalies, and carbonates. Such additives as bleaches, CMC (carboxy-methyl cellulose), and optical brighteners are generally included in the term "builders".
A mixture of nonspecific chemicals added to wash water in the laundering process to impart and perform various functions, such as soap builders, optical whiteners, suspending agents, alkalies, or the like. Excludes ALKALI, LAUNDRY and SOUR, LAUNDRY.
CLEANING COMPOUND,LINOLEUM-TOPPED DESK
A special purpose cleaning compound for use only on linoleum-topped desks for the removal of ink, carbon paper stains, and other deeply imbedded stains not removed by a detergent type cleaner.
An inorganic highly alkaline material with or without degreasing solvents. Excludes CLEANING COMPOUND, SOLVENT-DETERGENT.
REMOVER,NONBUFFING FLOOR POLISH
A nonspecific chemical compound used for removing nonbuffing floor polishes.
A specific chemical formulation for removing resin type floor polish and wax.
A polymeric compound preparation, compounded of synthetic or nonsynthetic ingredients, generally excluding wax, designed to provide a protective coating and polish or shine on floors. It provides great durability, low dirt retention, and slip-resistance. It is designed for use on composition floors, such as rubber, asphalt, vinyl tile, or linoleum. It may also be used on well-sealed wooden floors. Excludes WAX, UTILITY, SOLVENT TYPE; and WAX, FLOOR, WATER EMULSION TYPE.
RINSE ADDITIVE AND SOUR,LAUNDRY
An item to be added to the final rinse, formulated of a fabric softener to promote drying, reduce static, and make garments soft and wrinkle free, and a sour additive to neutralize residual alkali or decompose residual hypochlorite bleach. Excludes RINSE ADDITIVE, DISHWASHING; RINSE ADDITIVE, LAUNDRY; and SOUR, LAUNDRY.
CLEANING AND DETARNISHING COMPOUND,SILVERWARE
